Hello, my name is Kevin Galbraith and on October 15th, 2013, 6 days after my 45th birthday, 45 days after opening a brick and mortar business and just passing the 5 year ago mark, my life changed instantly.
I was headed home after an Incredible day of work. It was 9pm and close to home there was a major intersection shut down due to a downed biker. We were detoured through a supermarket parking lot and as I get to the street I see the biker covered in a blanket, deceased. I made a left to head towards the freeway when 2.5 blocks away a 75 year old Woman ran a stop sign out of her neighborhood and I hit her driver's side rear wheel at 50mph. I was dazed but tried to stand up when the severity of the accident hit me. I couldn't stand because my left leg had been ripped off at the shin. Only a few places was it still attached...one of the three arteries was still attached, the main nerve and some skin from my calf. I severed two arteries permently and was bleeding hard.
The only witness to the accident was another biker. He tied off my leg with his shirt and called 911.
Because of the other accident there was confusion with the 911 operator and I can hear the witness yelling at the operator saying, "This is a new accident, I can see the other accident but this guy is bleeding very bad and is gonna die..hurry the fuck up!"
After 23 minutes rescue showed up. At this point I had flatlined. After they did a blood transfusion on scene and revived me I awake in the ER.. a John Doe. 3 days later. My family and now ex fiance had been calling hospitals for days when I came to and somehow remembered a phone number.
I was in the hospital for 2.5 months. They saved my leg after rebuilding it with titanium. I also suffered a traumatic brain injury and fractured both testicals.
Since I had just poured everything into building the store from the ground up we were unable to keep our condo so while I was in the hospital...my ex fiance moved everything into storage by herself. When I was finally released from the hospital the only place I had to go was my store so from my wheelchair I made the store wheelchair accessible for me and we turned the office into a bedroom and lived there for the next year until it just became too hard and we ultimately lost the store.
These accidents are hard on us but it's also hard on our Families and I also lost my fiance in this confusion.
Since then I have been homeless on the hard streets of Phoenix. I did stay with my 70 year old Parents for a short period but being on a fixed income I was destroying their lives too...so the streets have been my home and anyone who knows Phoenix Arizona, you know the heat here in the long summers is deadly.
While on the streets dealing with the stresses I have suffered a heart attack and due to my obvious limp I have favored my right side...blowing out my hip.
I am currently waiting for a total hip replacement surgery and have been waiting 2 1/2 years for disability.
I am trying to get enough money together to just buy a vehicle or an RV that I can live in and recover from this hip replacement and sustain my life until I do get my disability back pay and finally get my life back, to as close to normal as possible
I am grateful for the accident and the lessons I've learned but it's time to literally save my life by reducing this stress and healing.
It's been a lonely ride but I know that my brothers and sisters who ride look out for one another so I am reaching out to you for help.
I thank every one of you for taking the time to even read my story and for those who can help with even $1, I thank you from the bottom of my heart...
Be love everyone and keep the chrome up and the rubber down!

* The Woman only had $25k in Insurance coverage and rented an apartment. I didn't want to end her story with this accident so I did not sue her personally. I hired an attorney who negotiated most of my medical bills so I am not behind much...only a few thousand dollars. I will settle these with my back pay.
